This weekend London, England hosted its first ever Modest Fashion Festival! The festival was created by two Muslim women in order to break down labels concerning women who decide to dress modestly around the world. Doctor Fahreen Mir and human rights advocate Sultana Tafadar arranged for the couture fashion runway shows to take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair. The festival was filled with luxurious headscarves, Islamic robes, turbans, and bedazzled long gowns!

The festival was a success and proved that modest fashion can be enjoyed by all, regardless of cultural background.  Overall, the festival celebrated a woman's right to choose whatever they want to wear without having to explain why and regardless of religion or beliefs. Essentially, a woman has control over her own body! Tafarder, one of the founders, expressed the importance of modest fashion in the industry today:

"We have seen modest fashion gaining great momentum with top luxury brands... Fashion brands all over the world seem to be embracing the view that fashion does not necessarily entail revealing a lot of flesh."

International model, Hamila Aden graced the runway several times during the festival! Born in Kenya, Aden moved to the United States at a young age and gained international fame when she competed in the Miss USA pageant wearing a hijab and burkini. She has been featured in Vogue, has been the cover girl for numerous magazines, and stunned audiences on the runways of New York and Milan.
