California Wildfires bigger than New York City and Boston Combined

2544

Southern California is continuously engulfed in flames as firefighters struggle to put out the massive wind-driven Thomas fire that ignited last week in Ventura County. Santa Ana winds and uneven terrain are the major factors that inhibit firefighters to properly extinguish the fire.

Regarded as the fifth largest blaze in California history, the wildfire larger than New York City and Boston combined has scorched 230,000 acres by Sunday evening, destroyed nearly 800 buildings, and left 90,000 homes and businesses without power.

The communities of Carpinteria, Summerland, Montecito, and Los Angeles are currently threatened according to the California department forestry and fire protection (Cal Fire).

President Donald Trump has made a federal proclamation this week that allowed agencies to coordinate relief efforts.

Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with Southern Californians who are dealing with this terrible catastrophe.
